The Arcane Order |
| The evening had started out as any other
would have, quietly. Mely had tried to continue her studies in the ways
of animals, but, feeling ill, she had stopped. She had returned to the
Arrow to await her verno's arrival. After Azeron had arrived, some sense
had urged her to take a walk, something wasn't right in the glade.
That feeling had led Azeron and Melyanna to the guildhall and the Shrine. Instead of being deserted as Melyanna had expected the Shrine was crowded. Khalin stood surrounded by Caladam, Glorfindle, Melandrith, Alleandra, Gwynned and a relative stranger to Melyanna, Galadriel. Galadriel was preparing for some ritual she claimed would heal Khalin's injuries. Melyanna was uneasy as soon as she saw the instruments of this ritual. Reeds, a vile that contained what looked like blood and a dagger. Her unease grew as Galadriel ordered the onlookers to hold Khalin down and slowly started to insert one of the reeds, first into the vile and then into Khalin's arm. In distress, Melyanna had pulled the reed from his arm, even though the others claimed it could kill him. Mely feared that the "ritual" the witch was performing would kill him anyways, her feeling further reinforced when the woman removed some dirt and another vile of blood. Upset that the others wouldn't protect Khalin, although a drow, she considered him a friend though she'd never admitted it to any other, she ran from the Shrine and what she was certain was the slow murder of Khalin. Azeron convinced her to return with him, though she knew she'd not be welcome in the Shrine. She stood in the doorway and continued to watch. The witch's ritual grew stranger by the moment. Melyanna distinctly remembered hearing Khalin beg the woman to stop her torture, that it pained him greatly and yet the witch continued. She cut his throat, inserting another reed and then proceeded to pound on his chest. Soon there was no movement from Khalin. Mely remembered hearing the words "He's unconscious...the pain was too great." And then it was over. Now Mely sat in her home, reliving the night in reverie. She felt guilty, had she caused his death by removing the reed? No...the woman had done that when she hadn't heeded Khalin's request to stop... |
| Please,
I am not a killer! I did what I did in the spirit of love and compassion for another creature. I would not ever knowingly harm or kill one in an healing attempt. I await the time and place for your judgement on me. As I stated before, my life for his, name the place and I will try to submit myself at that time. Once again I did not murder Khalin Wael and I am not a Witch. I just learned different ways of healing that you are unfamiliar with. Part of my soul went into him, and that is gone from me forever. This I gave willingly tryng to save him Humbly, |
| Sevanna stood perfectly still for a long
moment and her eyes widened in disbelief.
A soft clickety-clickety-clack echoed in the distance of her pursuers, the harsh black emptiness of her homeland hiding her ever persistent follower. Sevanna stuttered a moment trying to catch her breath, utterly engulfed in pain and shock. "Nau... it cannot be," she muttered breathlessly. |
